Call me naive, but if Uber exploits workers, why don’t they choose some other employer? If it’s the workers’ best choice, then thank goodness for Uber, right?

Can’t speak for the rest of the world, but in South Africa the Uber drivers I spoke to have very few, if any, other opportunities.
But that argument portrays Uber as a godsend for such people. It sounds like without Uber, they might go hungry.
But that argument suggests Uber could exploit them if Uber were morally bankrupt.
Even then, some drivers were not happy with their margins. I would say that they are aware that they are being exploited.
