I'm getting tired of this charade that this is the first time the big tech dragnet is being used to harm those caught in it. They've been handing data over to foreign and domestic law enforcement for a long time [1], including for what would be constitutionally protected speech in the US [2,3,4,5], so I'm sure they'll be able to handle a few extra requests - I don't see why there would be a "mess".
I'm getting really tired of people downplaying the significance of what is happening in the United States right at this moment.
I don't think anyone is saying this is the "first time" the big tech dragnet is harming folks. It's going to be a "mess" because of the sheer amount of data and legal bureaucracy that is very likely to go into this.
Location, application, medical, messaging data for half of the population of up to 22 states who are very likely going to be leveraging big companies to turn data over so they can arrest citizens seeking a medical procedure that is life or death. How is that not a mess? It's far more than a "few extra requests" imo
