Looking at the excerpt on Amazon, the Acknowledgments part of the preface lists numerous people and concludes with: "This book would be as good as it is without your help." The author might want to fix that.

I like to think the author is thanking them for their efforts despite said efforts having produced nothing of value.

This appears to have been fixed in the Amazon page I just pulled up.

It's still there, at least on Amazon.com. I haven't checked other Amazon sites.
