Ask HN: How to report a spammer website on Google?
4 points by stanlogin 1461 days ago
Website: codegrepper.com

Recently when I search programing keywords, that website often get very hight position on the search result page. But it has very low quality. The pages on the website were crawled from StackOverflow. Question&Answers are incomplete and sometimes not related. It is really annoying.

I've sent a spam report here, and literally came HN right now to ask more people to do so.

This is very annoying.

I've tried reporting a well know news site that was selling links to sketchy businesses and the rankings didn't seem to change even after a few weeks, but you can try:

- Google is not the police force of the web.

- You, I, and many others don't like those sites but they are legit so, unless they really do shady things that go against Google's TOS, you can't really expect any action to be taken against them.

I'm not saying that Google is police force. I'm not asking Google to take the webmaster to jail. We are not talking about legality. SPAMMING is obviously against Google's TOS.
Google is the police force of the web. They control the most used search index and the most used browser.
I use uBlocklist https://iorate.github.io/ublacklist/docs which allows me to easily block most of these websites from search results.
You can report them on bottom of search results with “Send feedback” button
