Take some perspective, what you are saying is "Where I started was the good place". Ask 60 year olds and they will tell you C++ is where we should have stopped. There is a reason you will have a very hard time to find those 60 year olds to ask about their perspective, it is because the common wisdom about how hard it is to keep being an engineer as you age is actually true. Saying "I'll do it in the future" is easy, the realities of having to keep up with technological progress for ever and ever and ever and ever ad nauseam are catching up to you. Software engineers are the construction workers of the software world and in both professions you rarely see old people for similar reasons, it can be done, but very few people survive. So if you already getting sick of it, I would either start thinking about when to switch roles to product/sales/cs/management or about saving very aggressively for early retirement :) Good luck! |
