This was before the release of Apple silicon, and I hope that the Mac team has gotten more attention since then. While Macs might get less attention than the iPhone/iPad/Apple Watch, I don't think Apple is willing to let the Mac die like that. Pretty much every Apple devices depend on the Mac and macOS because their main development environment is Xcode, which only runs on macOS. If Apple phases out the entire Mac line, maybe we'd see a day when Xcode runs on Linux? Or some macOS version that can be installed on normal PCs.
