To be fair wechat does a bit more than Facebook, like storing transportation cards, credit cards, as well as making payments and ordering food. Not saying that wechat is unamerican, nor do i think the parent comment is saying that. I will say though, the consumer markets are really really different. A lot more Chinese people use cells phones for more things (especially in the cities), in fact i'm pretty sure laptop ownership rates are pretty low compared to smartphones. But yeah I think he'll probably just turn it into another facebook, or at least it'll start there. Not really groundbreaking, if anything, facebook has become so bloated that the new features might even harming it. Just the other day I had to help my mom find the groups feature hidden in some menu or another on the app. |
