Absolutely, it's missing the forest for the trees. Interesting indies and mid-sized AA games like what Capcom makes are doing better than ever; every niche genre of games(aside from maybe RTS?) has been having a resurgence in the past ~6 years. The current range of variety in game design is genuinely mind-boggling. I used to be able to keep up with most things going on in games, now it's essentially impossible. |

And I've probably missed some too - e.g. Total Warhammer / TW: Three Kingdoms might even fit into the RTS bucket.
