Maybe. While I couldn't care less if the "new tab" button has a plus on it, Google has a tough job ahead of them if they want to replace every single use of the "+" symbol. This is a branding failure. In the end, it's a pointless endeavor because they can't overload every use of the plus operator with their own trademark. I hope the endgame here isn't a slew of law suits against all kinds of sites and content that use the plus in some fashion.
