I think it needs at least one upvote to be shown on the /ask list. Similar to the /show page "Every Show HN appears on shownew. Once it clears a small points threshold, it will appear on the show page in the top bar." (https://news.ycombinator.com/showhn.html) New submissions are first listed on https://news.ycombinator.com/newest and there isn't always enough users looking and upvoting. |
