The authors interviewed in the article point heavily to industrialization and increasing rates of innovation. The unpopular root of these is the utilization of fossil fuels. I.e. we found and harnessed a 600M+ year energy bank account. |

The last paragraph of the article mentions "intangibles", but doesn't follow up on it. My hope is that we can have economic growth that is based in intangible capital, and that economic growth can continue, even with a stable or decreasing human population, and ever-decreasing reliance on fossil fuels
