During COVID it was, which is what OP was referencing. My partner received the equivalent of $75k/year on unemployment to do nothing. Using the standard rule of thumb, that is equivalent to owning ~$1.9M in liquid assets, which definitely puts you in the 1%. They didn't even look for a job until early this year. |
