You may need a break from the news. That helped me awhile. A lot of society's ills as you've identified them require legal and political solutions, not technological. A startup may address a subset of the issues, but most of the issues can mostly only be addressed in a timely manner by governments. Despite Paul Graham's and his ilk's proselytizing, startups aren't a silver bullet to the ills of the world. I'm afraid as far as climate change is concerned we're a bit late to the party. I'm not saying nothing can be done, but it's here. We should brace for impact.
