Subconsciously or not, we often seek some form of status.

For instance, some material possessions may get extended beyond the utility as a way to communicate the level success or traits associated with the material.

It feel like there are some obvious ones. Like living in a certain neighborhood, buying a certain brand of clothes/cars, having a certain title at work, etc..

What are some of the non-obvious ways that you observed?
