Most Americans can't afford to go to the doctor for their yearly checkup, and most don't. A large percentage of the country doesn't have insurance. Also, I'm actually not sure that a yearly physical in the US does much for cancer screenings. The last one I had in the US did blood tests for cholesterol, urine tests for kidney disease, and some other common tests, but I don't remember getting screened for forms of cancer. I think this is dependent on the healthcare provider you go to, and what your insurance covers. |
