That’s assuming the antibiotics where needed, overprescribing them is extremely common even with viral infections. Peoples immune system can deal with the vast majority of bacterial infections, it just takes slightly longer than a trip to the doctor. From a doctors perspective prescribing antibiotics encourages people to show up with minor illness, it’s bad medicine but good business practice. |
