Mercedes will obviously outsource the liability to an insurance company. That’s what insurance companies are for.

Insurance isn’t magic get out of risk free, if self driving cars have loads of accidents and payouts the cost to insure will correct itself.

Not obvious at all. Companies the size of Mercedes usually self insure for routine risks.
