VBX controls were the thing that most closely fulfilled the promise of object-oriented programming: "off-the-shelf components that can be used to bolt an application together." Then there was WordBasic, a Word-specific implementation of Visual Basic that really kicked ass. You could build full applications in the word processor, to do tons of things we take for granted today. |
