The target market (for now) is probably their existing customers looking for better risk management by checking balance data through an authentic bank connection before initiating transactions through other Stripe products they already use.

I’m sure Stripe’s hope is that this becomes a full-blown Plaid killer, but as you mentioned that’s certainly not yet the case
