I understand the friction you're feeling. There are several ways to do the same thing in Obsidian, which can make it confusing to know whether you're doing it the right way. The way I managed to grok it was by reading this excellent post about this user's Logseq workflow [0]. Logseq is an open source copy of Obsidian.
