If I ever feel an urge to try out test cases on banking apps, hopefully I'll think of this story and stop.

This is what gets me. I would *never* send $10k just to see what happens in that scenario. Why would I want to risk that something goes awry???
The system is so poorly designed, who's to say his unusual behavior will be handled properly? That second 10K might just disappear. He let curiosity override the rational, cynical side of his brain. It happens.
Say what you want about the software, but that 10k won't disappear.
If I were rich, sure. $10k for Me is like $0.10 for Bezos.

But with your last $10k? That's just stupid (or fiction)

... and even if I did, I wouldn't dare to use the adverb "accidentally" to describe what happened.
Do the same thing one does with software: setup a dev environment

Either create an LLC or a child. Both can have a tax identifier. Not sure which is cheaper in the long run but the child is definitely more fun.

Yeah, but then you lose a lot more than the $875 OP is trying to make from the bonds.
