Every software project is a trash fire. Incompetence can definitely make a more severe trash fire, but the vast majority of the time, it'll just be due to constrained resources. There's never enough time to get anything truly "right." Your teams will get better than in college, but the software.. When you accept it, you can start to focus on controlling the trash fires in tactical ways - it's a big part of the job. If you take to time to make software to your standards, all the companies with lower standards will crush you. |
