We have universal healthcare now, you just have to be 65 to qualify. The easiest way to get healthcare for everybody and not bankrupt the system is to lower the qualifying age 5 years every few years. So make it 60 to qualify, then allow the markets to adjust, then in 5-10 years, make it 55, etc. We're already paying for the most expensive demographic of our population: people 65 and older. The lower we go with the qualifying age, the cheaper each adjustment to the system will be to the taxpayer. Nobody gets campaign contributions for that though. |
