And the Boomers had hippy subculture. Was everyone a hippy? Plato complained about young people in his time too. For reference, I'm part of Gen Z, and no one I know doesn't want to work. It's just that everyone wants meaningful work. This article is ridiculous and unfairly generalizing.

I'm a millennial and feel the same way. I'm just coasting at work after they've screwed me over a few times. I don't think any other company would actually be better. The work I do is meaningless.

Athenian society was in decline during Plato's lifetime, falling out of the 5th century golden age. His observations were likely lucid.

Fair enough. I was thinking of Plato's recounting of Socrates complaining about the proliferation of writing reducing young people's ability to remember things.

It’s like no one remembers the decade of articles blaming millennials for all of our societal woes, calling us the “me me me“ generation. We see this over and over again every generation.
