First, accept that people have different goals and predilections and you should begin by asking clarifying questions. But if you advise primarily from your perspective then you aren't advising you are just talking about yourself, which is ok, but make it clear that you know you are doing that and you understand that your POV may not apply to them. Second understand that many years may pass before someone finally appreciates your advice and/or takes it. Don't give advice if you expect instant gratification and don't get discouraged that if it is immediately rejected since it might be accepted later. |
