It’s only a single order of magnitude farther away than Mars is, which is quite reasonable in the grand scheme of things.
Ja, we have already sent way too many probes to Mars. Red deserts, yes, we get it already. Place is a dump.
Near enough to get to it. We were there in 1986 so could go back if we want. (As opposed to planets around other stars that we haven’t even gotten to yet.)
I too like having Australia just a short jump away halfway around the world.
