Ask HN: Best Online Trading Tools/Resources for Hackers?

I'd like to begin online trading but most of sites (i.e. etrade, ameritrade) etc are hard to navigate and require transferring thousands of dollars just to try out the software. Any recommendations on the best sites for trading?
