This is not the first time the Staatsanwaltschaft (public prosecutors office) of Augsburg has made dubious and potentially politically motivated decisions. If you look at the list of dubious cases and their sources on Wikipedia (perhaps using a translator service) there seems to be a worrying trend and continuity to their questionable decisions. [0] Notably their 2013 decision to allow a police raid on the regional newspaper Augsburger Allgemeine because an unknown individual posted an allegedly offensive comment against the CDU politician Volker Ulrich in the comments section on the newspapers website raises questions about whether the same decision would have been made had the „victim“ not been an important member of the party in power in the city of Augsburg.
