Franzensfeste was chosen by fascists as well, according to the Italian Wikipedia page. The previous name was Mezzaselva all'Isarco/Mittewald am Eisack. Italian people used to be the majority (~60% in the '60s) down to ~40% now, which is still a significant number. |
