Mastodon is really my favorite thing out there.

quick disclaimer I am a mod of the /r/Mastodon subreddit so there may be a bit of a bias there (not really though, I just like the software).

It's got it's quirks (and could improve in that regard) but its consistent and has a much more responsive ecosystem. I'm pleased with it so far.
