I was lucky enough to stop working in 2019 at age 49. I decided I would rather volunteer for charities that work on poverty, using my second set of technical skills (bicycle repair). I wish I had more opportunities, but it's been a lot more fun than "working". To start, I set a target of delivering more value than the amount of money I was donating to poverty-related charities while I was getting paychecks. Secondary goal is to train others to replace my volunteer labor after I am gone. |
