Some TVs deliver features they've promised through updates. My 2018 Sony needed an update to support Dolby Vision. More recent models needed updates for HDMI 2.1 support. There are also bugs that get fixed through updates. (HDMI CEC is notorious for this -- an update might fix something but break something else.) |
