Some theorized the A-bomb could start a chain reaction igniting the atmosphere. https://www.insidescience.org/manhattan-project-legacy/atmos... I guess I'm glad they were wrong but what a hell of a risk to take just to get another bomb when we already had so many. Perhaps the pressure of other nations developing the weapon was just to great. |
