I've almost entirely purged non-defaults from my workflow, but I still go for CapsLock->Ctrl. On mac, it's a menu in preferences. On windows, I have to download a program. On linux, there are 30 different programs and config files to do it and the linux community seems to be perpetually at war with them, with 25 of them silently or loudly broken at any given moment. The only one that works reliably, setxkbmap, is temporary. Still worth it! |

I got used to this on Mac and was kinda shocked how difficult it was to make it work everywhere on Linux, when I last tried it about 18 months ago. I spent (well, wasted) a lot of time digging through suggestions for how to do it, half of which didn't work and the rest of which only worked some places. On a new Mac it takes maybe 20 seconds to configure, simply using the GUI, and that's it.
