It's obviously just mindless parroted drivel, and a red flag for candidates (putting emojis into article titles is another one, it signals that the whole thing is just not really serious and not for mature people).
I just dropped off a hiring board when we spent more of the planning meeting discussing the importance of diverse candidates, and didn’t leave enough time to discuss what technical skills we want from these applicants. This literally resulted in us scheduling another meeting, and it took an extra week for applications to be reviewed.
I cannot overemphasize how uncomfortable I am with this situation. I hope it ends soon. I worry that it will actually harm the opportunities of everyone involved.
