Serverless solutions are typically priced based on usage - in case of db you may be charged based on actual iops, storage used etc. as opposed to pre-provisioned reserved capacity and infrastructure. Depending on usage patterns the former can be cheaper for apps that don't need reserved capacity and need sporadic/occasional resource access or have unpredictable spikes with otherwise low usage. |
