Slightly off-topic, I wish we could have journalists as authentic, insightful and engaging as this former comedian turned advocate of the people. Jon Stewart is an absolute treasure of a human being who obviously cares deeply about the issues facing everyday folks. That his kind of investigative, inquisitive interview style is so rare, is telling about the sorry state of affairs of mainstream journalism today.

He explores all sides of issues, but with a focused lens on the negative impact on regular folks, without partisan hackery, left vs right divisiveness, or intellectual dishonesty.

Why can't we find and promote more journalism of this flavor? It would dramatically increase the level of discourse in this country.

I watched some of this recent material on the stock market here as a friend was like "Jon describes stocks like you do... gambling. You'd like it."

What I was left with after watching it was a program that was great at making uninformed people feel smug about not learning why things are the way they are and feeling a sense that Jon represents them.

I really would rather Jon just ask 5 whys with experts on "both sides" instead of "dark pools sound evil so they must be evil. They are called dark pools!"

It's still entertainment when we need education.

I can't help but be tempted to mention another obvious name.

While I like Jon Stewart, those who inherited his will have let me down. Hasan, Oliver, and Trevor (to a lesser degree) have become biased and incredibly 1-sided reporters hiding behind the excuse of being a comedian.
