Twitter is implementing a change that will make it more difficult to view your timeline feed. Twitter began rolling out its algorithmic timeline in 2016 (to much fanfare), and in 2018 introduced the spark icon, which allows you to switch between algorithmic and reverse timeline feeds. To me, the spark seemed like a reasonable way to coexist with the Home and Latest timelines, but with the change announced on Thursday, Twitter appears to be pushing users towards the algorithmic feed. Instagram, on the other hand, is experimenting with reporting the chronological flow of its users. |
