Ask HN: Where are the experienced Computer Science graduates working?

We're trying to hire an experienced (5+ years xp) front end developer (web-based) and a tiny number of the candidates I've seen have Computer Science degrees. As someone who did Undergraduate CS and recently followed it up with a Masters this is confusing. I always thought of CS as the degree for software developers. Is front end development not something CS graduates are interested in anymore? Or is there too much competition from all the boot camp graduates?

Most of my classmates (class of 2016) get their jobs through word of mouth now. I think most of them don't even apply to jobs through job boards anymore.
