If Chernobyl is in Russian hands, how do the Ukrainians know it's lost power?

Presumably the invaders did not bring their own crew for the plant along. The crew is still there and have communicated about the lost power.

If it is not generating its own power for remaining operations (cooling etc.) then they could tell by reading a drop in drawn power from whatever the usual external source is?
