I find the displaylink adapter works extremely well as a workaround here.

But sadly 4K is still not properly supported on M1 macs!

Full 4K modes lose bits making it unusable for many things.

And scaled modes are not true hiDPI modes!

So QHD looks very pixelated on a 4K display!
