My theory is lot of tech people knew Epstein due to his interest in transhumanism and cryonics. Melinda is pretty pissed on Bill due to his affair and using this to taint his image. I am not saying Bill is good guy, there is simply no evidence but there the accuser has motivation to taint Bill's image.

I was already known that Epstein had a criminal conviction for involvement in underage prostitution from 2008.

So anyone associating with him after 2008 should not have the benefit of doubt.

I can fully understand why someone like Melinda did not approve of her husband having any sort of relationship with Epstein.
