Mearsheimer has been proposing the same since 2015.. as can be seen on this video: https://youtu.be/lfk-qaqP2Ws

And his proposal, for Ukraine to be a kind of neutral zone, was not for Putin, it was for the USA and Ukraine.. so that Ukraine could survive as an independent country.

Mearsheimer is West point graduate and air force officer... His biases are if anything pro USA.

I've watched a 2015 talk as well.

He still does not address the issue that by remaining neutral Ukraine has a very high chance of becoming a puppet state to Russia.

If he's not biased his thesis is incomplete.
