Unless you were an independent entity that could do most of your work over the phone with only occasional in-person meetings (e.g. certain kinds of salespeople and some artists), it was very rare. It only happened in this instance because the person in question had a newborn baby and I guess maternal leave wasn't a thing at Pixar back then. |

The opposite. After she finished mat leave she was allowed the special exemption to work from home so she could still spend time with her baby.
