Your ability to find work will basically define your success as a freelancer. The public websites for contract work are not great places to look unless you're okay taking the lowest common denominator jobs. Your personal network is the best place to start. You need to start reaching out to contacts and offering your services for hire. If you're uncomfortable with this, you're not a good candidate for freelance work. Some people get lucky and find a constant stream of niche work from their network right away. Others will have to work hard to find each additional contract. It will get easier over time as you build a reputation and expand your network, but it will take work to get there. |
