There’s really no point to being on LinkedIn if you aren’t in an active job search. Unless you really feel the need to be bombarded by desperate recruiters and to see whatever “inspirational” cat meme the secretary from three jobs ago is posting..

I've been reached out via LinkedIn for several job opportunities related to the organization I'm working with. A couple of these turned out to generate great value and revenue for both orgs.

I understand though that in most cases and most of the time LI is closer to your experience.

I disagree, and have used LinkedIn to keep up with a lot of former coworkers. (But I used to work at LinkedIn, so I clearly have a bias.)
