This post makes me want to roll my own Linux kernel again. I used to build vanilla kernels on Slackware (2.2.x!) and then Gentoo a /long/ time ago as well as modify stock Debian kernels to remove stuff I didn't need and tweak some knobs as of just a few years ago. I feel like it's almost required to page through the various dialogs in menuconfig periodically in order to stay current when it comes to modern hardware and how it can interact with the OS. |
