I find myself in a similar boat. Have you decided on an alternative? I'm not likely to start paying for Google Workplace but am happy to pay for another service. Thankfully my needs are pretty simple, I only ever used GSuite for my own domains and they only have one user account each.

I'm just going to pay. I only had 7 accounts (some were full backups of old email accounts, eg: [e-mail] -> [e-mail], some where used for alert email sending). I can prune them down to just my main and switch email alerts over to SES, that way I'll just pay $6/mo which I'm fine with for now. I might investigate alternative providers at some point but $6/mo is hard to beat and I'm happy with gmail.
