But why would a regular person visit those sites? I hold a PhD and I think I visited the nsf website <50 times during my entire academic career.

Im a researcher in a government lab and I don't think Ive ever been on it.

NIST? Definitely

LLNL MPI tutorials? Obviously.

But NSF… never?

Also a professional researcher in a government lab. The NSF site is a once or twice a year visit.
