I'm not sure if this is "absolutely new". A few months ago my wife and I had to do some stuff through the IRS. And in order to login through ID.me. We had do an actual video session with ID.me so they could see our drivers licenses, SSN cards, and a few background questions. In order to verify our identity. It was a bit time consuming rather than just logging in. But with so much identity theft, I think something like this was inevitable. |
